Saved By Grace

Fourth in series of "Truth Foundation"

Title: Saved

Text: Eph 2:8-10

Introduction

Have you ever noticed how you can miss the simplest of instruction or fail to give the simplest of instructions and because of that things got all messed up.

I once failed to read the sign correctly and drove 100 miles out of the way by getting back on the interstate highway going the wrong direction.

I understand that when computers first came out with CD ROM's that some people thought they were coffee holders.

I failed to explain to a young man about baptism . . .

Missing some of the smallest instructions can cause some really big messes.

An understanding of what it means to be saved should be the best know topic in any truth believing church.  Yet, it appears that many do not have an understand of what it means to be saved.

This golden nugget of scripture teaches us what we are saved by grace, we are saved through faith, and we are saved for Obedience.

I. By Grace

A. To be saved is to assume that we were at risk.

B. The Very Definition of Grace tells us that we got there, at risk, rightly

C. Grace Mean We Were Removed From Risk

   Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

II. Through Faith

Means of applying this grace, this gift from God is Faith.

A. Commitment Faith

More that believing
James 2:19
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Illustrate: Rich Young Ruler

B. Surrender Faith

Calling of the fishermen

C. Hope Faith
1 John 3:2
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

III. For Obedience

A. Because We Reflect Christ (Workmanship)

Years ago there were a number of different auto makers. American motors and Stutbaker were two.  Both of these manufactories came out with a car model that was going to save the company. Both models did sell well the first year or two.  They were the Gremlin and the Lark. The Problem? They were cheaply made and poorly made. Instead of saving their company they put the final nail in the coffin.

We are a reflection of our Lord. (To use the term once used by generation X - Heavy)

B. Because of Our New Nature

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ephesians 4:24
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

C. Because God has So Ordered (Ordained)
Ordained means to be anointed. To have the hand of God so bless you with the gift of obedience.

Rom 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior by praying this simple prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. But I believe that you died upon
the cross for me. That you shed your precious blood for the
forgiveness of my sin. And I believe that on the third day, you
rose from the dead, and went to Heaven to prepare a place
for me.  I accept you now as my Savior, my Lord, my God,
my friend. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and set me free
from my sin. And, because you are my Savior, Jesus,
"I shall not die, but have everlasting life".  In Jesus Name Amen!
Thank you Jesus!
